At low water last
night our boom gave way at the mill. We had it made
fast as usual with lines to the shore. The boom
broke in two in the middle and then by getting twisted
the 4 1/2 in. lines to the shore got cut off on
a chain. This let the boom break in another place
and about 200 fins. logs mostly poor ones went to
sea...The boom is now secure and none of it is lost.
Have been up since midnight.
Some sailors running
this morning.
